Greencove Springs

Greencove Springs Sunset

I recently had the chance to visit Greencove Springs, Florida and let me tell you, the natural beauty of this place is truly breathtaking. From the moment I arrived, I could feel the relaxed vibe of the town. As I walked around, I noticed the huge live oaks that provide welcome shade on hot days. The Spanish moss hanging from the branches swayed in the slight breeze, creating a hypnotic effect.

But the real showstopper was the sunset. I have never seen such a beautiful sight in my life. The colors were incredible—a deep orange mixed with fiery reds and soothing yellows. It was like looking at a painting come to life. I couldn’t help but snap a few photos to capture the moment.

If you’re ever in Florida, be sure to check out Greencove Springs. You won’t regret it!

There’s nothing quite like experiencing nature’s beauty firsthand. If you ever get the chance to witness a sunset in Greencove Springs, Florida, don’t hesitate—go see it for yourself! You won’t be disappointed.

I got a Mavic 2 Pro for free

I had 3 old Dell R710 servers and a bunch of old NESL 230 watt solar panels.

I got a message from someone on Facebook marketplace interested in making a trade for the servers

He was having trouble selling his DJI Mavic 2 Pro for cash, and after another week of not being able to sell it he was willing to trade.

So I got a full kit of a working drone including 4 batteries, and a 1st generation DJI FPV headset.

I’ve taken it out flying already a couple times and I’m already happy with it.

Even though many of the features were similar to my Mini 2 that I had before the 1″ Hasselblad camera sensor is noticeably better. It also appears to fly faster but the battery really only lasts about 20 minutes.

The two things that really suck about it though compared to the Mini 2 is the DJI remote controller, my phone can hardly fit inside the handle so it’s difficult get setup. Also the battery charger took me 10 minutes to figure out how to plug in the batteries, and there’s no positive locking feature so the batteries can easily fall off.

I could buy a better remote controller but that’d be about $1000 for a compatible controller. So it might actually be better if I just sell this Mavic 2 and get a Mavic 3 or the new DJI Avata.

Anyways I traded 3 Dell servers and 4 of my old solar panels for a working $1500 professional drone.

Laika Astronaut Dog

Laika the rocket dog

Laika was a space dog who became one of the first animals in space, and the first animal to orbit the Earth. Laika was a stray mongrel from the streets of Moscow, selected to be the occupant of the Soviet spacecraft Sputnik 2 that was launched into low orbit on 3 November 1957. No capacity for her recovery and survival was planned, and she died of overheating. Laika’s story is a sad one, but her legacy is an important one. She paved the way for future space exploration and helped to advance scientific knowledge. She will always be remembered as a brave pioneer who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of science. I made a short video memorializing her sacrifice.

Helium Miner

Layer Zero Update

I installed a Layer Zero helium miner and not even a year later they have stopped sending my payments.

It’s not because the antenna hasn’t been working I’ve maintained and monitored it, but the company just has stopped distributing payments.

There’s plenty of people on social media and tiktok saying that you’ll get $1000’s of dollars for installing one of these antennas, I’ve barely gotten $400 this year.

I’m here to tell you it isn’t worth it, you either pay $1000 for an antenna and get 100% of the profits but it takes more than a year to return your investment.

Or you rent/lease an antenna where they send you the antenna for free and then send you a portion of the payment you mine like 40%.

I chose the latter to reduce my risk, I still had to get up on the top of my second story roof and install the antenna and run the cable down the side of the house.

AI Content Writing

I’ve tried using Jasper.ai, it works sometimes but many of the responses lack the right context and or coherence for making good content unfortunately.

However if you want to try Jasper yourself you can get 10k words when you use my promo link: https://jasper.ai?special=XB64oBl

There’s also chrome extensions like HyperWrite which is a really good idea for the technology to integrate seamlessly with people but the extension is still buggy, my first time installing it locked up my computer and almost crashed my chrome browser. It supposedly works with Reddit and Gmail but it doesn’t quite work yet with WordPress.

Similar to this is Github’s Copilot which uses AI to suggest or predict upcoming lines of code to save you time.

All of these services largely draw from OpenAI’s GPT-3 model which obviously is the third version of GPT, the second version GPT-2 was released for download but wasn’t nearly ready for professional use even with the largest 1.5 Billion parameter datasets. However now the GPT-3 version is bigger and more refined but you can only use it with their API to limit and protect the technology from potential abuse. You can actually access GPT-3 from the playground for free.

Chrome Manifest Version 3 with Websocket Server

I have been working on a chrome extension for a year. If you don’t know anything about chrome extensions or google platforms they are incredibly locked down, and have much fewer open features than are naturally available running code on your own computer. To be able to do certain advanced things from a chrome extension it is easier to send requests to a server that can do what you want. Google however has been pushing for security enhancements that make coding useful features in Chrome extensions even more difficult. When I began programming my chrome extension Manifest Version 2 was still useable, however since then all the old examples have been made obsolete, and the documentation is outdated for the new Manifest Version 3 framework. I spent a couple months asking in forums and searching for examples for making a chrome extension websocket client that could work with a websocket server and I couldn’t find an example anywhere. I eventually found some little bits of code on places like stackoverflow.com that I was eventually able to get working. I put this together as a working example of both a client and server with instructions on my Github.com

Military Pet Portraits

Pets have been serving alongside military members for centuries. In fact, dogs have been used in warfare since ancient times. From providing companionship to offering love and support, pets play an important role in the lives of those who serve our country. Today, pets continue to serve an important purpose at home.

Pets can be a crucial part of the healing process for military members who suffer from PTSD and other mental health challenges. In fact, studies have shown that spending time with pets can help reduce stress levels and increase feelings of well-being.

Everyday military service members fight for our freedoms, our pets fight an unseen war to serve us. They battle the same things we do. Pets can have depression, anxiety, PTSD, many pets will serve as prisoners of war in the pound.

Military pet portraits are a way to remember the pets that have served alongside military members. These portraits can be used to honor the bond between human and animal, and to raise awareness about the challenges that pets face during wartime.

Dall-e 2 photos

AI has come a long way in recent years, and one of the most impressive applications of this technology is in the realm of art. OpenAI’s Dall-e 2 is a AI tool that is capable of creating high quality art based on text prompts. While Dall-e 2 is still somewhat limited, it has the potential to create some truly stunning works of art. With more development, it is likely that Dall-e 2 will become an essential tool for artists and photographers alike.

Also a word of warning, OpenAI is incredibly protective of the uses for Dall-e 2 so much so that even if you submit relatively harmless or mundane requests you get warnings that you might be automatically suspended.
